It's THE New Year! Yes, it's 2004!
Hmm.....another year past and there is indeed so much to say. Many things had happened within the year, changes both good and bad maybe.
2003 started with me enlisting into Police National Service finally, after watching most of my friends entering army already. It was quite a unique experience, having spent the next 4 months in the Police Academy. I made a new bunch of friends coming from different backgrounds. I must say it was pretty short-lived as the people I could really mix with still came from JC. The differences in thinking really shows between varying levels of education. Ok, there were the fun times, splashing water on each other during the cleaning of barracks, or the constant spilling of powder on those who were asleep. But there were the conflicts as well among us. Ha...while others missed the place after they were posted out, I am relieved on the other hand. For one, the food in there sure sucked big time. And I can't stand the living conditions, that lousy piece of old mattress and the toilet that always floods. Well, it's almost a year since I enlisted. Just another year or so before I can ORD alreadY!!!
2003...the year that I also first stepped into a club. Used to sit around in junior college hearing people talked about the likes of clubbing. Finally got a chance to go with a couple of my ex-jc classmates to Zouk one fine night. Not exactly Zouk, but Phuture, an extension of Zouk. My first impression was that it was too smoky. But it's the music and the crowd that pulls people there. Overall i think it's quite a nice place to chill-out occasionally, although it's quite unhealthy with all that second-hand smoke, and loud music that makes your ears ring. Well, I guess this is a phase for us young adults. A time of night partying until something hits us in the face that it's time to move on with our lives. Hmm...but thats where all the pretty babes hang out you know haha.
I got my PS2 in January of 2003, using part of the pay i earned at Polo Raulph. I could not wait to lay my hands on the hottest games of 2002, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy X. Both were very good games. While Metal Gear was more on the action, Final Fantasy was a lot on the storyline. Between the 2, I enjoyed Final Fantasy X more. Play the game and you will know. Final Fantasy X-2 was another highly anticipated game of the year 2004 especially since FFX was so good. Just completed the game recently and the ending's pretty much touching. Sigh, how I wish there would be an FFX-3 but I know every story has an ending and there it is. Now awaiting the next big thing of 2004, Final Fantasy XII!
Movie of the year goes to :- Pirates of the Carribean!!!! Followed by LOTR:Return of the King in second place. Why? Cuz i think Pirates was really good with such witty dialogue and a pirate adventure you won't think of. LOTR was good but pale in comparison to the book so i gave it second place.
OK, got my broadband that year too after constantly complaining about the uselessness of the 56k modem for about 2 years already. But then, broadband sucks just as bad after all. It's just slightly better. OK, maybe it's 2,3 times better. But compared to cable, I could achieve much higher speeds for the same price. Hmm, luckily the contract's only 1 year. Let's hope that Singnet can come up with higher broadband speeds this year!
