Yeah, back from Sibu Island! A refreshing and relaxing holiday away from the urban lifestyle of Singapore, on a small island off the eastern coast of Malaysia. Ok, it's south of Tioman.
Ironically, my whole body is aching - an after-effect of various activities. It must have been the Banana Boat ride mainly. Seated on a long inflated float shaped like a banana, you get drag around the open seas by a speed boat. The result: multiple flip-flops into the sea after losing equilibrium of the float. Although it provided me with aches and injuries here and there, it was the most exhilarating among all the activities I have done there. I couldn't stop laughing after getting thrown off but it wore us out pretty quickly having to climb back onto the float. That was why the boat ride only lasted 15 minutes. Try it out and you will know why.
Snorkelling was a first for me. Waddling on the surface of near-clear waters, studying corals beneath my feet, swimming with schools of fish. I felt hesitant at first, fearing the open sea and what lies beneath. But the experience made me change my point of view. No doubt the sea is a place of mystery and danger, but where beauty is mostly defined, it can be found under the sea. Maybe...maybe, I would try diving in the near future.
We also did the usual stuff like canoeing, volleyball and swimming. One of their main attractions was the mini-zoo, which housed families of chicken, peacocks, goats and deers.(I missed the goats as they were kept at the top of a hill) Food-wise, I am damn sure we binge alot on the buffets offered. The rest of the time was spent on sleeping and mahjong! Lots of mahjong till my head spinned!
Overall, it was a great trip. I had planned it initially to be a S21 trip. Sadly, quite a few could not make it. I guess that was the disappointing part of the trip. It could have been much more fun having the bunch of us all together. Well, I'm looking forward to the next one, that's for sure!
