It had been awhile since I last club, and after this outing to MOS with my JC mates, a question kept bugging me. It wasn't the first time but I think I wanna write something about it.
Why do I club? Or particularly, why do we club?
I'm no drinker, neither am I a dancer. I guess it's the music and a gathering on common grounds where people dance to their favourite tunes. That's my main reason, most probably the main reason of opening a club in the first place. However that reason is very much distorted in a world of flirtatious attraction between both sexes (more a guy thing).
It is kinda amusing watching guys swarming the girls on the dancefloor, whipping out their handphones to start their text conversations once they have selected their targets. In an instant, the music becomes secondary, more of a hindrance. Even on a dancefloor, I could practically feel sparks zigzagging across me from different directions. Well, me? I was never a player. I'm always comfortable being an observer. But like other guys, I too desire to look good and gain recognition from people.
A clubbing experience is something almost surreal and dream-like - a night of wild dancing (not me, I'm not pro remember), booze and 'fishing' by the desperadoes. Everyone enters a club with their own agenda, tries to fulfill it and comes back out to resume their daily lives. A portal is it? Away from the mundane workings of reality?
Truthfully, dancing ain't for me. I try but it doesn't bring the kind of satisfaction as it does to others especially girls. Maybe it's the music. RnB can be pretty boring when all the DJ plays are hip-hop pieces, with non-stop rapping. And I hate the pushing & grinding of hot sweating bodies on the already sardine-packed dancefloor. Your movements get restricted and instead of dancing you get shove around like a pinball in a tight space.
Clubbing once in while is okay. Go too many times and you will most probably get bored of hearing the same tunes over and over again. For me, I can never get bored of going to a pub and hear a good band belt out rocking tunes both old and new. Preferences maybe.
